MASSAGE

Loris draws on his knowledge of various styles of massage and polarity therapy to assess the structure of the body and treat the muscles. His treatments assist in rehabilitation from injury and the management of pain by releasing tension or trauma and bringing a sense of awareness to the body. Loris’ treatments lead to deep levels of relaxation, improved range of motion, enhanced performance and the free-flow of previously blocked energy.

In a massage session with Loris, clients can expect to have a comprehensive assessment and intake process in order for a treatment plan to be created. Loris utilises a range of massage modalities, matching the style to the individual in order to achieve the greatest benefit.

REMEDIAL

Using a number of techniques, including stretching, remedial massage is helpful for a reduction in pain and tension, improved mobility and posture, calming the nervous system, generating relaxation and reducing stress. Loris will use his knowledge of the body to help identify the origins of discomfort and then to alleviate it. The pressure of a remedial style massage can vary depending upon the the particular issue and a client’s comfort level.

SPORT/ORTHOPEDIC

Sports style massage is helpful for those who train continuously. An orthopaedic massage assists to achieve faster recovery times and to relieve swelling, reduce tension, improve flexibility, prevent injuries, and combat fatigue, while improving overall performance. With a foundation in structural and functional massage techniques, sports massage uses joint movements, kneading, rolling and tapping. Loris can assist to prevent future injuries while also addressing specific issues such as splints, tennis elbows, strains, sprain and corked thighs.

DRY NEEDLING

Dry needling is used to stimulate trigger points in your body that block discomfort. By creating a disruption to the pain messages sent to the central nervous system, clients experience a reduction in muscle spasms and tension, abatement of pain, and the simultaneous activation of muscles. Dry needling is commonly used for back pain, night cramps, tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, tennis/golf elbow, torticollis, ITB syndrome, chronic knee pain and whiplash.

PREGNANCY

During pregnancy, a woman’s body undergoes changes to its structure which can cause stress on her joints and muscles. With Loris’ specialised training in the discomforts specific to pregnancy, he uses techniques that alleviate the common concerns of lower back tension, edema and hip pain, as well as helping to achieve a relaxed pregnancy. In the first trimester of pregnancy, Loris offers 30-minute neck and shoulder massages to new mums-to-be during the first trimester. 60-minute massages are performed with the support of a pregnancy cushion for additional comfort  through the second and third trimesters.

Postnatally, massage is an excellent assistant in helping the body to adjust after birth and to relieve stress and release endorphins which can ease postpartum blues. Often referred to as the ‘Fourth Trimester’, when women can experience issues with abdominal separation, pelvic floor dysfunction and pain in the hips, massage offers effective relief in the sacroiliac joint, lower back and coccyx area after pregnancy.

ORTHO-BIONOMY

With light compression of the joints and gentle touch, ortho-bionomy offers a non-invasive opportunity to realign and reeducate the body into healthy balance and alignment. Based on osteopathic principles, ortho-bionomy is particularly helpful for individuals suffering from symptoms of TMJ, repetitive strain injuries, osteoarthritis, bunions and scoliosis. Treatments can take place on the bodywork table, in a seated position, or from standing and include range-of-motion exploration, gentle rocking motions, cranial balancing and postural re-education.

ONCOLOGY

Loris specialises in oncology massage, helping people living with cancer to downgrade the numerous side effects of conventional treatments. Oncology massage can effectively reduce fatigue, pain and nausea, as well as the anxiety and depression that can sometimes accompany a diagnosis of cancer or other degenerative illnesses. Characterised by smooth, flowing strokes and circular motions, oncology massage offers a light touch perfect for alleviating physical and emotional stress.

SPECIAL NEEDS/DISABILITY

For those with special needs, as well as the carers that support them, Loris offers massage to alleviate stress, improve sleep patterns and increase muscle tone. Utilising integrative massage techniques, Loris helps to compliment other therapies and provide relief for the aching back, arm and shoulder issues associated with the strain of lifting to and from wheelchairs or providing care for a specific disability. Loris’ clients report receiving emotional support as well as physical relief from his treatments.

CUPPING

During a cupping treatment, cups are placed on specific regions of the body and suctioned in place in order to create increased blood circulation, thereby removing stagnation. This therapy relieves tension and improves overall blood flow, promoting cell, blood vessel and connective tissue repair to the areas treated. Clients find the technique particularly helpful for shingles, paralysis, coughs and herniation of discs. Stemming from traditional Chinese medicine, cupping therapy has been used for over two thousand years.
